Clinical Observation and Nursing of Congenital Syphilis in Infants


Abstract
The author made a clinical study of 12 cases of congenital Syphilis in infants who had been treated at Pusan Children¢¥s Charity Hospital since Nov. 1966 to July 1967.
No sexual difference in frequency was observed and range of age at the time of first visit to the hospital was 15 days to 6 months.
The main reason to visit the hospital was the problem of skin manifestations and the other most common symptoms were failure in getting weight general weakness, nasal obstruction, change in long bones and jaundice.
3 cases out of 12 cases were died, 2 of pneumonia due to secondary infection, 1 of liver damage.
The author was convinced that the effect of early penicillin treatment could be excellent.
